Reporting to Parents/Caregivers

Reporting to parents/caregivers and whānau occurs through:
Written ReportsMid & End of YearWritten reports provide a snapshot of the child’s learning in relation to various areas of learning, including the progress and achievement in relation to the National Standard in reading, writing and mathematics. These reports are provided to parents twice per year.
The mid year (interim) report shows how students are progressing for their year level. The end year reports (for students in Year 4 and above) show how the student has achieved in relation to their year level. Because five year old children start school at different times during the year, their reporting varies slightly based on their time at school. In line with Ministry of Education’s guidelines, a written report is completed for each student based on the following number of weeks that they have been at school. |
Learning ExposTerms 1 & 3Learning Expos are 30 minute, group based sessions held in the classrooms, twice a year. Their purpose is to share the child's current learning goals with whanau.
Each child leads their parents/caregivers around a series of 'stations' at the Expo. Students share different aspects of their learning in several curriculum areas. Parents/caregivers also spend time speaking with their child’s teacher about their child's current learning. Learning Expos are a fantastic way for parents/caregivers to be part of the learning at school and to discuss their child's individual learning goals. |
Learning ConferencesTerms 2 & 4Student Learning Conferences are formal reporting sessions with both parents/caregivers and students. They are run on an individual basis. Each conference is 20 minutes in duration and is led by the teacher and the student.
Learning Conferences are a time to celebrate student learning, progress and achievement. Student goals and samples of work are shared and achievements and areas for future focus are discussed. Student Learning Conferences are a wonderful opportunity for parents and caregivers to share and spend time with their child and enjoy who they are as learners. Student Learning Conferences happen twice a year in Terms 2 and 4. |
